Tennessee House Passes Student Physical Activity Legislation
Good news in the fight against childhood obesity!
HB 3750 cleared one hurdle last week as it was passed by the House with a vote of 80-15.
- The legislation does the following:
Expands Coordinated School Health from 10 counties to all 95 counties in the state.
- Creates the positions at the Department of Education of school health coordinator and PE specialist.
- Requires the incorporation of 90 minutes per week of physical activity into the instructional day.
The bill now heads to the Senate.
Thanks to all that have contacted their legislators regarding this legislation. Look for another update soon as we attempt to move this legislation through the Senate.
